Creative Cash Gift: Fireworks

On Wednesday night I attended my third Christmas party, which was for the curling club.  This gift exchange in particular had a $15 limit, which is enough to get something decent but not outrageous.

There were the usual suspects, including several bottles of wine (we brought one of them) and boxes of chocolates.  There was a Chuck Norris tear off day calendar, a mini bottle of Baileys with hot chocolate, a wine aerator, a shot game based on roulette, a multitool, some Christmas crackers, a wind up flashlight and more.  My favourite comment was directed at the person who selected the gigantic gift under the tree, “It’s just $15 worth of marshmallows!”  It was a large cooler bag, but I have definitely filed away that idea for the future!

However, I think my spouse came out a winner!  How so? A bag with several fireworks in it!  That, coupled with winning two bottles of sparkling wine for a skills competition, made for a pretty sweet haul.

This brings me to my next, very simple, fun and creative way to give a cash gift for a wedding, birthday, Christmas, graduation, whatever!  Similar to the cash gift idea of dynamite coin rolls, but this one is the real deal!

Creative Cash Gift: Fireworks!

Step 1 – Buy fireworks.  $10 ought to go a decently long way.  You could also substitute sparklers.

Step 2 – Attach your card, containing a quote or a poem and a cheque or information about an eTransfer (the safest way to gift cash).

Some Fireworks Love Quotes:

“Love is not always fireworks and shooting stars; sometimes it’s a simple understanding and trust between two people.” – Unknown

“When you meet someone so different from yourself, in a good way, you don’t even have to kiss to have fireworks go off.” – Lisa Schroeder

“Colored lights blink on and off, racing across the green boughs. Their reflections dance across exquisite glass globes and splinter into shards against tinsel thread and garlands of metallic filaments that disappear underneath the other ornaments and finery.
Shadows follow, joyful, laughing sprites.
The tree is rich with potential wonder.
All it needs is a glance from you to come alive.” – Vera Nazerian

Some Fireworks Love Poems:

Love Is Like Fireworks

Love is like fireworks
for when it happens
people are amazed
Love is like fireworks
cause it can lead
to beautiful things
Love is like fireworks
for when it gets dark
you light up my world
Love is like fireworks
you can’t find
the exact one anywhere else
Love is like fireworks
for when it gets cold
you can keep warm
Love is like fireworks
for when it’s over
you can’t believe it is
Love is like fireworks
your heart starts
a beating in excitement
Love is like fireworks
for there are rules
for how close you can get
Love is like fireworks
for it leaves
a memory you won’t ever forget
Love is like fireworks.

These ones would make a fantastic wedding day gift from from one spouse to the other:

I always see the fireworks
when I’m with you.
I’ve only to think about you,
and I forget my blues. I’ve waited my entire life to be with you. And I can’t wait to show you that my love is true. I know that no matter what comes our way, or whatever troubles find us, our love will always see us through. Our love will always have a way, to light up our world, like a brilliant fireworks display. And I’ll always be with you. I’m in your life to stay. And I wouldn’t want it any other way, because I love you.

“Fireworks bursting over the ocean

Illuminating the abyss

That’s the way you make me feel

Every time we kiss”

Brenda Vincent

Alternatively, you can throw some fireworks in as a nice top-up to the wedding registry gift that you picked out, or add a bottle of champagne to make it a gift on its own.  The sky’s the limit (teehee!).
