The other day I got a request from Sarah, over at Life [Comma] Etc, looking for some inspiration for care packages, especially ones for young teen girls. Now, preteens/teens are not my area of expertise, but I have seen several care packages in my day!

Given that I lived overseas twice, the folks around me and I received a lot of these things! Here are a few things that are age appropriate and fun. Note that most of them are good for all ages :-)
Movie Night in a Box Gift Idea
This was definitely a favourite in residence! Beyond the usual downloaded things off of university networks, it was fun to have a real DVD and all of the accoutrements. The supreme version includes a blanket and new pajamas! A DVD is key, of course. Let it be known that many kids, pre-teens, teens, students and adults like to watch Disney and Pixar type films! Next, throw in some popcorn. Consider including some of those shaker flavour things and a nice bowl for all of it. Finally, add some candy. Personally, I am a big fan of skittles, but I’ll leave this one up to you.
You can give this gift as a wedding present, a bridesmaid or groomsman gift, a birthday gift, an anniversary gift, a care package… really for almost any occasion!

Grab that local newspaper with the crime report (is that just my small town?), that everyone finds hilarious. Grab the campus humour newspaper. Grab the Sunday comics section.

These things are way more awesome in print form. Can you remember all of the ecard comics that you have seen or received on Facebook? Not really? Now, do you remember the ones that have shown up in the mail? Thought so!
Tacky Socks
A housemate’s mom used to buy us cheesy holiday socks, like the type you can find at the dollar store. We never would have bought them for ourselves and boy are they hilarious! Every once in awhile I’ll wear a pair, especially if I’m going to an ugly sweater party, or something else that keeps with the right season for the tacky socks!
