Festive Alternatives For Your Multi-Color Christmas Bread
If you aren’t able to track down Christmas sprinkles or you just aren’t a fan consider buying red and green food coloring. Split your bread dough in half and add red to one and green to the other. Pour into your loaf pan alternating between the two colors! This will create a red and green striped pattern! Keeping your loaf super festive without the need for sprinkles! For your glaze if you also wish to omit the sprinkles consider adding some food coloring to your glaze as well or buy some gel icing pens and draw on some festive patterns! Whatever way you decide your Christmas bread will impress everyone.
Heavy Whipping Cream Alternatives
More often than not when I’m baking I’m lacking heavy whipping cream! It’s not something I always have on hand. So here are some clever alternatives with items found in your kitchen. The absolute best substitute that works for heavy whipping cream is half-and-half and butter. Mix ⅞ cups half-and half and ⅛ cup melted butter (let your melted butter cool a bit before adding your half-and-half). This will create the perfect whipping cream for your glaze.
Another option is milk and butter, however this one doesn’t create the best whipping cream it’s still an option in a pinch. Combine ¾ cup of milk and ¼ cup of melted butter for every cup of heavy cream needed, now if you find this isn’t thick enough add some cornstarch to it! Lastly, another option is Greek yogurt and milk! Combine equal parts Greek yogurt and milk, although this one isn’t typically recommended for whipping it can be used, again you may need some cornstarch for this one. Happy Baking!
