How to Make Valentine’s Day Crack Recipe
Here we’re going to take you step-by-step with some detailed instructions, as well as ingredients for making your very own Valentine’s Day crack recipe! First things first though, we’ll try to get ahead of any questions you might have before throwing this thing together.
Can you Substitute White Chocolate for Milk Chocolate?
Here’s the deal, this recipe is a cross between a fudge and a toffee. The purpose of the white chocolate, besides the flavor, is to create a white base for the pink candies to add their signature swirl in what can only be described as Valentine’s day goodness.
That being said, if you’re more partial to the flavor of milk chocolate, or perhaps even a dark chocolate, you’re in luck. You can still achieve the same effect of the pink candies, that being the marbling, although it might not be quite as pronounced in the final product.
Just keep in mind that it’s probably going to taste delicious either way, but will differ in its overall appearance from our gorgeous Valentine’s Day goodies.
Salted or Unsalted Butter?
If you’re wondering what type of butter you can get away with using based on what you’ve got on hand, I’m sorry to say that you’re going to have to grab yourself some unsalted butter. The saltine crackers do all of the work in the salty department here, and while the butter makes for an excellent crispy base, you’re not going to want to over do it.
Ingredients
40-50 Saltine Crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 bag white chocolate chips
Pink candy melts
Valentine sprinkles
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325 and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray.
2. Lay crackers out in an even row.
3. In a saucepan, heat butter and brown sugar slowly over medium heat until melted.
4. Once melted, increase heat to boiling and stir until mixture begins to thicken.
5. Pour over the crackers and bake for 5-7 minutes.
6. Sprinkle white chocolate chips over heated crackers.
7. Melt your candy melts (as instructed on the package) and pour over white chocolate chips.
8. Mix and swirl together as you’d like.
9. Sprinkle with Valentine’s Day sprinkles.
