Frosting and Decorating Ideas

We love the classic white frosting with red roses style frosting. However if you want to add more color you can always turn the cake into a pink and red themed cake. Just add a little less red food coloring to your white frosting and it’ll be a nice shade of pink! Or if you can get your hands on pink food coloring use that.

You can also pipe your frosting into fancy patterns if you like, we show frosting placed similar to roses but you can pipe it into heart designs or XOXO, maybe even add your Valentine’s name on your cake!

For adding sprinkles you can use Valentine’s day heart ones or sparkle ones that match the color scheme you choose to go with. Usually baking sections have tons of options!

Whatever design you go with, we know it’ll be fabulous!

Tips for Adding Cookies On Top of Your Cookie Cake

We have listed adding frosted heart shaped cookies on top, you can purchase heart shaped cookies in any store around Valentine’s day or make some. You can shape your chocolate chip cookie dough into hearts and bake separately or make some sugar cookies into hearts to top it off with, depending how much time you have.

For ours we purchased some heart shaped cookies and placed them on top. You can also leave them out all together and just use your frosting to decorate your cake.

If you still want to add something sweet but would rather omit the cookies you can add the tin foiled chocolate hearts or some heart shaped candies as well! If you are baking with your kids let them pick some goodies out while you shop! It’ll be such a fun afternoon activity!

Enjoy and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
