The Most Incredible Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Literally Everyone on Your List
The origin of stockings is a bit hazy, but one story tells of St. Nicholas throwing bags of gold down a chimney for a family who needed help. The bags of gold ended up in stockings that were set out to dry in front of the fire. In some countries, the gold landed in shoes set out to dry and so they put out shoes instead of stockings to be filled by St. Nick.
Traditionally, stockings were often filled with small toys, candy, fruit, and coins. Children often found an orange in the toe that represented the bag of gold that St. Nicholas dropped down the chimney.
There are many different traditions around when to open stockings. Some families open them the night before Christmas. Some open them first thing Christmas morning and some open them after all the presents are opened.
Stocking stuffers are the hardest things to buy. You want to get awesome things that they use, and don't want to just fill their stocking with random plastic that will get thrown away before Christmas is even over.
