Ahh, Mother’s Day. Or is it Mothers Day? Either way, it’s a day to celebrate the moms in our lives and take a moment to tell them that we really appreciate all that they have done for us.
Coupon books for hugs and chores are all the rage, but for those of us who have aged out of that phase of childhood, let’s think of some Mother’s Day Gifts for 2015 that rock. Things that will make Mom smile, you know?

Eats and Drinks
Dinner Out
Take a gander on sites like Groupon, to keep dinner on you under control. Dinner can be as simple as pizza or as upscale as a restaurant boasting some Michelin stars.
Wine of the Month Club
There are a lot of memes out there on the internet about mommies and their wine. As an avid wine consumer, I can respect that. Buy Mom a Wine of the Month Club membership, or pick one of their great gift baskets!
Brunch
Brunch, oh ye great weekend delight! Many restaurants offer a Mother’s Day brunch, or you could opt for a gift certificate, or set a date, to go for brunch at a local restaurant some other time. Brunch runs the gamut when it comes to price point and can be had for anywhere from $15 to $1500 dollars, your choice.
High Tea
If you have ever traveled to Victoria, British Columbia, or London, England, you have probably heard of High Tea. It generally comes with a High Price Tag, but that’s what makes it a fantastic gift. Book a date at high tea in your city, if it is available. Many older hotels, boutique hotels and some bed and breakfasts offer high tea.
Truffle Oil
Perhaps not truffle oil, exactly, but find some fancy foodie gifts and package them together for a mom who enjoys culinary adventures.
A New Cookbook
I am currently loving Whitewater Cooks with Passion.
Flowers
Delivered Flowers
Mother’s Day comes at the beginning of spring, when flower bulbs are blooming. Coincidence? Perhaps not. Flowers are fantastic because you can order them from darn near anywhere! Oh the great power of Google Maps :-)
Garden Flowers and Plants
If your mother likes to plant a garden, or have hanging baskets, they also make a lovely Mother’s Day gift. Order a specific basket, flat of flowers, or pick up a gift certificate to a local garden centre, so she can choose.
Potted Flowers
Terrariums are cute and all the rage. Most local florists will have some on offer. You could also opt for a potted flower, available from a garden centre, Canadian Tire, grocery store or florist.
Experiences
Ziplining
Ziplining is all the rage. You can go hundreds of meters at a time in Costa Rica! Many ski hills and canyons offer zip lining throughout the summer, and you can make a whole day of the adventure.
Culinary Classes
Some online searching should lead you to a great variety of culinary classes in your Mom’s neighbourhood. It’s a great night out, there’s delicious food and you can learn some new skills.
Race Entry Fees
Tough Mudders, 5kms, Half Marathons, Centurions, Ironmans etc. etc. There are a ton of races and events for all sorts of sports and the fees really add up. If your mom is into such things, spring for the entry fees. If it’s the Ride to Conquer Cancer, make a nice donation toward the minimum fundraising targets.
Make Her Day Easier
Housekeeping or Lawn Mowing Service
It might be you. It might be a one-off house cleaning. It might be a year’s worth (swoon!) of housekeeping. Make Mom’s day (and life) easier by farming out housekeeping or lawn mowing!
